SO AX is rolling around the corner, ANYONE GOING? Mind you I'm fairly certain I may not be found...but hey, I still wanna hear if anyone was going.

Was planning to try and make things for AX then realized I had no idea, not enough time or skill and lacked serious funding, maybe better luck next time, I don't know.

So yeah, anyone going?

I see a BUNCH of people posting up this one report where this guy is talking about "orphan works" I have also SEEN DEFINITIONS where the term "orphan works" has apparently been warped to "confiscated creations terms"....in all honesty I have seen currently two sides, the greater majority doing this "OMFG THE GOVERNMENT IS TRYING TO TAKE OUR RIGHTS AWAY 4EVAR" and hell if it was I would be pissed.

But think a moment, just a moment fellow artists, if it was doing that then every single mascot and whatever shit that came from the US would be up for grabs, like....say all our cereal mascots, animated creations and others. I doubt they would take it sitting down (they wouldn't let someone profit from their hard work sitting down, THEY WANT THEIR SUING RIGHTS) look at YOUTUBE DAMMIT. Under the same clause youtube could indefinitely definitely SHOW things that have been copyrighted and not be HARASSED. So yeah, I think that little bill is fishy.

So far I have only seen ONE person who has taken the time to do some outside research on what that one....writer has said and and they aren't even ON DevART. Personally I have no idea who to trust, but the one who cites resource sources and highlights the errors that that guy's article makes is looking REAAAAAAL on the ball out of the rest of 'em right now.

Hopefully that person is right and that the sky really isn't falling in terms of the creative world.

(Also if this were to happen quite literally the Writer's Strike will most likely become a grain of sand in comparison to what that bill -if it is what most people are interpreting it as- if it does get passed -if it is the unreasonable clauses it states- will evoke from the art community.)

Hello and welcome to a most crucial time here in dA- a time when even the SYSTEM does not work for us. It does not take a genius to point out that as of late this community has seen better, brighter days; days when art thievery was dealt with in a swift manner, days when originality was the mainstream and praised, days when the DRAMA was kept to a minimum, the DRAMA was always there but now the DRAMA seems to rule us much like the idiocy of FAVES, PAGEVIEWS and general comparisons of numerical compensation. Yes, there have been much better days where ART was considered the order of the day.

Our situation is indeed grave as the administration seems to have, for lack of a better term, been in need of great help and aid in performing its duties of justice, sometimes where its judgment has been questioned, but otherwise dealt out accordingly. As a result of this, there are collections of people who lend their help in this time of need, by doing their duty and doing what they think is best, such as reporting these incidents, but there are those that ABUSE this system because, for whatever reason, they feel the need to spread the plague known as negativity that is as unnecessary as it is unneeded- for whatever reason, I care not to know, but I do know that I want to at least hinder and someday, help put a stop to them. Yes, I know it is an inconsiderable if not slightly impossible goal, getting rid of trolls, flamers and thieves, it is a great task that requires the utmost vigilance and integrity.

In hopes of achieving this or at least helping the others who have long begun this goal in creating a better community, I am going to attempt to organize...THE SOCKPUPPETS OF ORIGINALITY GUILD (SoOG). Though the image is probably silly, it is simple, and simplicity is sometimes the best weapon. The goal is to be as just as possible without going overboard, the rules are simple:

Be courteous, be concise, be concrete.

If you understand this mantra, you are SoOG Material. If you wish to join this specific cause merely do so with your actions. If you wish to display your proud membership of the SoOG, change your dA icon into an original one of a Sockpuppet and post the mantra in your signature.
